Adventure with us as we travel the country in search of history, great scenery, mass quantities of wild life, disc golf courses, microbreweries, fun people and some awesome campgrounds to park our home on wheels. We also hope to do a lot of dispersed camping in the Southwest as well. There will be sunny days and there will be cloudy days but a day without laughter is a day wasted!! ROLL ON!!

Birthday fun!
What a day! We drove to Holland Michigan (about an hour from where we are for the summer) and we tip toed like Tiny Tim through the tulips. They were beautiful. We had to go today because tonight there will be a hard freeze and they would maybe all be dead tomorrow. Not likely because they are a hardy flower but it was my birthday and I can do what I want on my birthday. Really, I can do what every I want every day!! Lucky me! Man was it cold though. The closer we got to the lake the colder it got. Could have used winter coat today. There were even snow flurries. There was a great movie advertised downtown but of course the theatre was closed. Guess we have to wait until it comes out on Netflix. We headed over to the forest afterwards to search for mushrooms (no luck) but dang near got lost in the brush. We took the short cut which means no trails accept the deer trail so it was branches in the face the whole time. NO selfie today because all the blood might scare you. I cooked up some perch and fries for dinner as you can see from the picture. Again do not be fooled by the take out container. I cooked all this stuff!!! Our feet hurt so that's it for today. Recliner are wonderful.

Trails, Trails and more trails
We are so happy that we have come to an area where there are a bagillion trails. We have hiked every day we have been here and have not gone to the same place twice. Those are just some of the close by trials. There are so many more within an hour. Yesterday we walked so much we had to stop for ice cream at the end for energy to drive home. We had a razzle (I guess that is Michiganeese for blizzard) Disc golfing each day at different courses was also part of the day. One of the pictures will show Dicks good form (or it may look like an old man ready to tip over) The nature trail we went on today had an unexpected course within it and it was an awesome nature trail. Of course we didn't get the map until we were finished but we will go back and identify all the cool stuff. We hung up our sign that a Kentucky friend made for us just in case all the new people want to know who we are. Also included is another funky tree. Funky trees are everywhere! Must be something in the water. Well that's all for now.

Freezy Freezy
Dam cold today! Stayed in most of the day. Walked around the lake. It's 1/2 mile in case you wanted to know. Dick checked out a disc golf course. I stayed at home and cooked dinner. That's all the adventure for today!

May the 4th be with you
Today was another hiking day. We headed out to the state hunting land and found some trails. We took our fancy walking sticks. I made mine and a friend in KY made Dicks (I love KY) wood burned just for us as a going away present. Thought maybe we would find some mushrooms but instead we found the eternal bog of stench and as you can see from my walking stick...it sunk over a foot. I think the stick only stopped because it hit the bones of Hoggle. We spotted a foreign structure and had to investigate. It turned out to be what we believe was hunting blind built by Red Green. Lots of duct tape and cellophane. There was also a funky oak tree (I think) that branched off at the bottom with 6 tall trees (It would have been a great cage for Dick had I put barbed wire around it! To end the day we went fishing. 1st time in probably 40 years for both of us! I caught a fishy. It was hauled in so fast it flew off the hook and was flopping on the ground. I have no clue what it was but it was HUGE (4 inches). For fear of touching it and getting fishy covid, I pushed it back in the lake with a stick. We have no clue what we are doing when it comes to fishing but hopefully google will be of some assistance because there is no one camping yet in the park to ask. Until the next adventure......enjoy the pictures!

Exploring
Woke today with power problems. Another loose wire! This time the inverter! Emptied out the storage and Dick crawled in to fix it. YIPPY, things work again. We adventured into the little town of Cedar Springs to hit the liquor store (no gun involved) and found some good Michigan beer (cool bottle caps) and checked out the bike trail (we walked). As some of you may know, one of our bikes fell off somewhere in Ohio a while back so we are searching for another. We pulled out the electric bike but didn't take it with to the trail. We will wait to ride the trail until we find another bike. It was a great walk and saw some sculptures and then headed back to cook out and wash the camper and the truck. Both are shiny and clean! Beautiful day out so we were outside all day. Pictures below. Do not be fooled by the Culvers wrapper! We cooked all this stuff!!!

Made it
We made it to Michigan. Man is it sandy here on the west side. We dang near sunk in the sand at our site. I worked hard all day making a paver path to the sites deck and raked all the leaves. Blisters on my hands are killing me. I have gloves but that would have required smarts to put them on!! Dick did all his hard work leveling and hooking up all the stuff and now is sleeping soundly in his chair (after our daily cribbage game of course). We met a few people, (not to many in the park just yet) I am sure we will meet more people in the days to come. Tis a nice little campground right on the highway so there is much noise. I suppose it is like living next to a train. After a while we probably won't even notice.

Michigan bound
Well we woke, packed and were ready to roll at 10am. Door side slide wouldn't go in. We tore apart every thing we could think of to fix it and finally wiggled a wire and wah la, magic happened and the slide went in. Many a suggestion from friends and the Google! Thanks to all. Especially Matt Marshall for crawling in the tight spot of the camper to discover the loose wire.. Anyhow, late start means a beer stop was necessary so we parked at Half Moon Brewery in Kokomo, Indiania for the night. Whiteout Stout and burgers were awesome. Tomorrow we venture on to Michigan.
