Goodbye to Newfoundland, hello Nova Scotia (again). We heard about this great tidal change so we thought we would investigate this and see if it was all it is cracked up to be!
Arrived at out fun resort. It is nothing like the picture. That's OK! From the price we paid we knew what we were getting into. It was close to the best viewing of the tidal change and that is what we came for. Who travels great distance, pays tons of money for a fancy place and just lounges around?? Couldn't you just lounge around on your own couch for free? Anyhow, it was fine for a few days and the bed bugs only bit my toes! Just kidding there were no bed bugs!
The next pictures are high tide!
After a few little walk abouts we found a pretty butterfly sculpture and a covered bridge that was part of an old mill!
We hiked out to the beach to watch the tide go out and were amazed at how fast it traveled. Saw some pretty cool things that would be covered with water at high tide.
The little line in the middle back on shore where the water line was is the staircase from above. It does meet the water when the water is at high tide so......we were walking on the bottom of the ocean sort of!
Stairs, stairs and more stairs should have been the title of this post. From the height of some of the pictures later in the post you can imagine the number of stairs we climbed. In my opinion....there were way too many!!!
This marina was a site to see. They come in at high tide and at low tide they are just hanging around the dock waiting for the water to come back up. Super crazy looking!
We just couldn't wait around for the tide to come in so we went to the Holy Whale brewery again. We went to one on Prince Edward Island, I think. Not the greatest beer but there is not a plethora of breweries in every town. If you get one you are lucky. Go to the big cities and you have more choices. But to many choices is stressful!
So, this is low tide. You can see the water lines on the rocks and see all the people walking about down on the ocean floor. Super cool. Guess what??? There were a million stairs to geta down there and then you had to go back up!! Worth every step!
Just some pretty weeds hanging from the rock!
Not a million steps but a bunch!
Moving on to another place. For the life of me I just cannot remember the name of this town, but it does have a claim to fame. The world biggest axe! We did not feel the need to take a picture of this as it is a weapon of destruction, and we are people of peace and love! Well now you know I am full of shit!! We just didn't get the opportunity to do it. We were in this camping cabin for 3 day and cooked up some amazing food on our little burner, soaked in the St John River, Disc golfed, drank beer and just relaxed a bunch. It was very needed! Go, go, go can be fun but tiring.
Pretty cat tails! I have not seen these in years!
Just a bird!
Why does every word in French have to have a Q. I bet if you played this in in Scrabble it would not fly!
In Quebec City at the Citadel. Our friend Line is a retired military person, and she got us in for free. We walked about and snuck in on a tour of the jail. Great views from up her and tons of good history.
Dick, Pam & I on top of the world with a cannon!
Not fake people! I have no clue how they can stand for so long and not move! It is insane and why??? I guess I should google that someday, but do I really need to know the whys of everything silly!
Great painting on what was a very boring building at one time!
Smoky the Mountie capturing me for bringing to much bourbon into the country!
You really feel like you are in a different country in these French cities. I guess I never need to go to France after visiting here now!
What the hell was I thinking eating this! French fries with gravy and cheese curds. As they say....When in Rome!! Poutine is what they are calling it. How it ever came about is not something I need to Google! It is a much-loved food for there are chain restaurants that specialize in this. It is on every menu, and people just go ga ga over it. We all have our thing which makes this world great and just because some other culture likes it, doesn't mean we all have to but trying different foods as we travel has always been fun.
I think we have moved on to Montréal. So many cool old building it's hard to tell. I love seeing the old pop up above the trees. Why don't they build beautiful buildings like these anymore?
Teaching Line to play Disc golf! We hope she will continue!
We watched the boat lock through in Ottawa. We have locked through on rivers before but these we manually run which was crazy and they were built many moons ago and I think it was a series of 5 or 6 step ups in water level but very cool to watch.
At Pam & Lines house! Turkeys everywhere! Playing hide and seek in the soybeans!
Visited the friends we visited in Newfoundland in Ottawa at their other house and had a great dinner and boat ride and played more fun card games with them.
We moved on to Lindsay, ON to visit more friends that we met in Tucson for a couple of days. Rented another cheap hotel $56 dollars a night should tell you of the condition of this place. No matter. We are spending most of the time at their house. They rented a pontoon boat and picked us up at a dock close to a pub and we ate lunch then went on a ride about Rice Lake for a couple of hours. Fishing was on the agenda but only one small fish was caught. There was much fun had and some sun burn.
This is our fancy $56 dollar a night room!
We went to a brewery that was having a comedy show and had a blast.
Tonight we end with a fire and farewell to these fine people we will see again in Tucson! Our journey will take us North and west of Winnipeg where we meet up with fore friends we met in Tucson so until then, be happy, be kind, & laugh every day!
