DND Road Trippin'

Adventure with us as we travel the country in search of history, great scenery, mass quantities of wild life, disc golf courses, microbreweries, fun people and some awesome campgrounds to park our home on wheels. We also hope to do a lot of dispersed camping in the Southwest as well. There will be sunny days and there will be cloudy days but a day without laughter is a day wasted!! ROLL ON!!

Better late than never & in the wrong order of travel.

Well I thought I would just send you all a picture of what I want my next table to look like.  I have always had a thing for these giant spools.  Who going to make it fore me and put it in their yard for me to visit it!

We spent a couple days with good friend in Readstown, WI and had a blast! There are so many good people around the country we can visit.

Went to an awesome play with the folks above and had a great time!

An adventure in Minnesota to the National Eagle Museum brough me back to childhood rubbings.  Something for everyone here.  I sat at the kiddy table and had fun and you don't even have to have a little kid with you to sit here!!  BONUS!!  Or not.  It would have been more fun with one of the grand kids.

Birds hanging all over!!

We got to the museum just in time to see the bird guy giving his live eagle demonstration and we sat in the front row.  This as he informed us is not always a good thing because they can squirt poop pretty far and when he feeds them the rats head it can get messy if not swallowed whole & parts and pieces may fly at you.  Fortunately, this lively fellow was hungry and swallowed it whole.  Thank goodness, because I may have died if rat brain got stuck in my hair.

Our anniversary was the 31st of July and we went out for a fancy dinner and cocktail.  Both dinner and cocktails were awesome.  Thanks Lisa Lipinski for the suggestion.  Although I am almost certain she doesn't read this she deserves recognition!

We parked the camper at Merrik State Park on the Mississippi, my old summer stomping grounds for years of family vacations.  Dick took this lovely picture of a tree on a pit toilet.  Just though he also should get some recognition for fabulous photos.  I am also pretty certain he has never read one of these blogs but does contribute some pictures. Definitely none of flowers and trees but most people pictures are his.  Thank you O'loveofmine!

We saw some family while in this area. A sister & a brother of mine both have cottages on the outskirt of the state park and I also have a brother and sister who live in this area.  Yea, there are lots of other crazies like me out there.  Below we also visited my sister Shelly at her place.  Love them all!!

Before visiting family, we stopped at a camp along the Mississippi and listened to the train all night and sat in a big chair.

One of our stops in Minnesota included a Meadery.  They had 23 different meads to try and yes I wanted the 23 flight but only got the 4 or 5 sample flight.  Bought a couple of bottles and drank with one of my sisters when we got to Fountain City.  YUM!!  Super high alcohol in this stuff.  No wonder the Viking ran around doing stupid shit in there day!!

A guy Dick use to work at quit the 9-5 job and bought a resort in the middle of norther Minnesota and we pulled in with our trailer and spent a couple of days.  Most excellent place that had cabins, boats to rent, a great beach, pickle ball, & a disc golf course.  There is no campground, so we parked the trailer, and they gave us an empty cabin to sleep in.  The place was huge & slept 10 people.  We had a great time, and they asked us to come back and help out next summer.  Maybe we will and maybe we won't

There was an big eagle next on their property and that dot in the sky was one of the eagles.

All play and no work isn't fun, so Dick helps out with some watering.

At the end of our stay I made some thank you $20 bills for the cleaning staff.

Beach has all kinds of fun toys for kids and adults.

Thursday morning nature walk group.

Not relevant to the resort but all the pins we've had since Google started tracking us!

Sitting outside our cottage selfie!

The eagles nest is in the distant trees just above the disc golf basket

What a great place and a great time we had at this resort!  Below is my cross-stitch map filled in with all the states we have stayed in.  You may have already seen this on Facebook but I know there are some of you out there that do not use this social media so I thought I would stick it in there just for you.

The Frontier village and buffalo museum was pretty fun.  Wandered around looking for silly things and we saw them.

Huge beasts of beauty!!

This crazy guy was riding around on the kiddy train.  Self-propelled with a hand controls.  No kids were riding because that generation doesn't like to stress themselves to have fun!

They grow dem der buffalos big in Nort Dakota!!

This is a picture of our knees for our daughter Veronica!!

Somebody should feed this guy.  You can see his ribs.  This is the ending of our trip to Theodor Roosevelt National Park.   We went through day one and saw one buffalo.  The next day we saw the whole herd.  From a distance the hill side just looks normal but get a bit closer and there were tons of these wild beasts just a roaming around munching the grass and fattening up for the winter.

All these little white spots are prairie dog holes.  These are the funniest little creatures that just pop up out of the hole and look around.  There must be a real city below ground that connect all these hole.  I just know they are down there having a prairie dog rave!!

Very beautiful park and that I never expected to be as such in North Dakota

You'd think with all the walking and hiking I would be in better shape!!  Maybe some day!!

We really gotta practice selfies or travel with friends who will take our picture.

This, on the 1st day in the park was our indication there was wildlife.  We hiked to this river overlook and saw footprints in the sand.  We thought for sure we'd see the herd, but it wasn't to be for the 1st day.  Glad we came back the second day!!

Yes, this is my favorite dress, and I wear it everywhere and all the time.  Get over it.

Very pretty park if you get the chance....go!

We spent the night in Montana in a tiny tornado.  The trailer was a rocking from all the wind.  We didn't shut the windows fast enough before the dust tornado that proceeded the rain and there was literally dust everywhere.  Lesson learned. Close windows before tornado.

At the opposite side of Montana, we spent the night at a brewery parking lot and really enjoyed the beer and people working.  Had this huge parking lot almost to ourselves!

Pretty fancy art in the round abouts in Bend Oregon.  Another cool town with much to do and much to see.  Next time we go through we will float the river.  It looked like people were having a great time doing this.

Guess who took this picture? Dick just loves looking for wild life.  Just hope he doesn't go off the road taking these pictures and kill me for real.

Visited Boise, Idaho where another past coworker of Dicks lives and had a great time.  Not really sure why I took the following picture, but I guess it was just weird art!

The trips to resale shops are always interesting!!  I work so hard that I need a hard hat!!

Well, that's all for now.  Visiting family in Wisconsin now for a bit.  Probably not any good travel blog until the end of Sept!  Family is great fun to hang around with and we are having too much fun to take pictures and write.

As always, ignore the spelling a grammar!!
